LoyalFans Taxes for Creators
Written by Sophia Brecht Published Last updated
LoyalFans taxes start before your first payout. Creators who live in the US submit a W-9, everyone else a W-8BEN, and the app says the W-9 is required before US payouts can be released. LoyalFans says it may file income reports with any tax authority, the US Internal Revenue Service included, but it does not say which 1099 form, if any, it sends for creator earnings.
This is general information, not tax advice. We read LoyalFans’ Creator Supplement, its referral program terms and the tax screens in its app on 30 September 2026; what you owe depends on where you live, so take your own situation to a qualified adviser.
Which tax form does LoyalFans ask for?
It depends on where you live. The Creator Supplement says: “If Creator lives in the US, Creator must also submit a completed W-9 Form. If Creator lives outside the US, Creator must submit a completed W-8BEN Form.” Both are IRS forms.
The table sums up what LoyalFans asks for and what it says about reporting, by where you live.
| Where you live | Form LoyalFans asks for | What LoyalFans says about reporting |
|---|---|---|
| United States | W-9 | May report income to the IRS; the W-9 is required for payouts |
| European Union | W-8BEN | Collects and verifies the payout method under DAC7; creators must comply with EU VAT |
| United Kingdom | W-8BEN | Creators must comply with UK VAT; HMRC reporting is named for referral earnings |
| Anywhere else | W-8BEN | May report to “any taxing authority” |
The form is part of account setup, so our guide to signing up on LoyalFans covers when it comes up.
Does LoyalFans send a 1099?
LoyalFans does not publish which 1099 form, if any, it issues for creator earnings. The only 1099 it names anywhere is Form 1099-MISC, in the referral program terms, and that passage is about referral earnings.
If you searched “loyal fans 1099” hoping for a yes or no, the honest answer is that LoyalFans has not put one in writing. Ask support@loyalfans.com which form, if any, will cover your creator earnings, and keep your own records whatever the reply, so your adviser can work from them.
How do LoyalFans taxes work for EU and UK creators?
LoyalFans collects and verifies EU creators’ payout methods “due to DAC7 Compliance”, DAC7 being the EU rule under which platforms report seller income to tax authorities. Its terms of service also say UK and EU creators “must comply with” VAT requirements.
Whether you need to register for VAT, and from what turnover, depends on your country, and LoyalFans gives no guidance on it. The referral terms add that referral earnings may involve DAC7 reporting in the EU and HMRC reporting in the UK. Outside the US, the EU and the UK, LoyalFans publishes nothing country-specific beyond the W-8BEN.
Is LoyalFans income paid in US dollars?
Yes. The Creator Supplement says all fan payments and creator earnings are transacted in US dollars.
UK local and SEPA payouts are converted to pounds and euros at the daily rate, so the figure in your LoyalFans statement is in dollars even when your bank received another currency. Note the rate on each payout date for your records.
Which numbers should you keep for your tax return?
Keep the gross fan payments, the 20% platform fee and your 80% for every period, plus every payout fee. LoyalFans works out its fee on fan payments “exclusive of any Tax element”, and the statistics dashboard it launched on 10 August 2026 splits earnings by type, which makes the breakdown easier.
A workable folder for each year holds:
- The earnings statement for each half-month pay period.
- Payout confirmations showing the amount received and any currency conversion.
- Payout fees: $45 for an international wire, $20 for crypto.
- Referral payments, which arrive separately around the 1st of each month.
- Invoices from anyone you pay out of your earnings, such as an agency.
Ask your adviser whether to report the gross figure and deduct the platform fee, or to report the net amount. The answer differs between countries.
Does working with an agency change your LoyalFans taxes?
Not on LoyalFans’ side, as long as the platform keeps paying you. Under our model LoyalFans pays you directly, the earnings and tax forms stay in your name, and we send an invoice for our commission afterwards; pricing explains how that invoice is calculated.
A studio account changes the flow. The studio receives the payouts and pays you its agreed split, and LoyalFans does not publish how income is reported for creators under a studio. Ask the studio and your adviser before you accept an invitation. The payout schedule itself is in LoyalFans payouts.
